A Brief Introduction to School of Accounting of GDUFS

广东外语外贸大学是一所具有鲜明国际化特色的广东省属重点大学，是华南地区国际化人才培养和外国语言文化、对外经济贸易、国际战略研究的重要基地。学校辖22个教学单位，开设61个本科专业，现有1个国家级重点学科和7个省级重点学科，拥有1个博士后科研流动站，1个一级学科博士点和11个二级学科博士点，10个一级学科硕士点和35个二级学科硕士点，7个专业学位硕士点。

Guangdong University of Foreign Studies(GDUFS)is a key provincial university with distinctive features of internationalization in South China. It has long been focusing on its education of internationally-oriented personnel and its research on foreign language & Culture, foreign trade and international strategic studies. Consisting of 22 faculties that offer 61 undergraduate programs, the University now boasts one national key academic discipline, seven provincial key disciplines, one post-doctoral research station, one PhD program of Category I discipline, eleven PhD programs of Category II discipline, ten master programs of Category I discipline, thirty-five master programs of Category II discipline, and seven professional master programs. In recent years, the School of Finance has been one of the highly-developed schools in terms of professional and discipline construction in the university.

学科建设

广东外语外贸大学财经学院2014年7月更名为会计学院。学院会计学办学历史悠久，早在广东外语外贸大学前身之一的广州对外贸易学院成立初期（1980年），就设置了会计学专业方向。近年来，学院学科建设和专业建设快速发展。2006年获得会计学硕士学位授予权，2011年获得财政学（含税务）硕士学位授予权，2014年获得会计硕士专业学位（MPAcc）授予权。会计学专业先后被评为广东省省级名牌专业（2006年）、国家教育部特色专业（2009年）、广东省专业综合改革试点单位（2012年）。财务管理专业2010年被评为广东省省级特色专业。

学院设立了会计服务外包研究团队、国际会计研究中心、国际财务管理研究中心、现代产业体系研究中心、公共预算研究中心、国际税务研究中心等科研机构，同时是广东省普通高校人文社会科学重点研究基地粤商研究中心的重要依托单位。

学院现开设有会计学、财务管理、审计（CPA方向）3个本科专业，并开设有ACCA国际会计创新班、财务管理全英班、会计学及财务管理双专业双学位班。现有在读本科生1855名，在读硕士研究生50名，在读会计学及财务管理双学位双专业学生823名。

Discipline Construction

With a long history of education, the School has set up the accounting major just after the founding of Guangzhou Institute of Foreign Trade, one of the forerunners of GDUFS (1980). In recent years, it has witnessed a rapid development in the construction of professional training and discipline .In 2006 and 2011,the school was given the right to grant the master degree in Accounting and Finance (including Taxation) respectively. This year, school obtained the right to grant Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc). Its accounting major was consecutively accredited as the provincial famous brand major of Guangdong Province (2006), the distinctive major of the Ministry of Education (2009) and the provincial pilot unit of comprehensive major reform (2012). Meanwhile ,its Financial Management major was also accredited as the provincial distinctive major in 2010.

The School has set up a research team for accounting service outsourcing and some research centers, including Center for Accounting, Center for International Financial Management, Center for Modern Industrial System, Center for Public Budget and Center for International Taxation. In addition, it also serves as an important supporting institution for the Research Institute of Cantonese Merchants or the key research base of humanities and social sciences for colleges and universities in Guangdong Province.

The School now offers 3 undergraduate programs including majors of Accounting, Financial Management, and Auditing (CPA). It has opened as well an ACCA international accounting class, for all class for Financial Management major are taught in English so as to make dual-degree certificates for Accounting & Financial Management major. At present there are 1855 undergraduates, 50 post-graduates and 823 students for dual degree of Accounting and Financial Management in the School.

师资队伍

学院通过多种途径，不断提升教师素质，建成了一支教学经验丰富、具有国际视野的高水平师资队伍。现有教职工59人，其中专任教师56人，教授12人，副教授28人；具有博士学位的教师比例达到43%；南粤优秀教师2人，广东省“千百十工程”省级培养对象2人，校级培养对象10人。学院高度重视教学团队的建设，现有校级教学名师1人、校级“教学青年十佳”教师3人，校级A类教学团队（全英教学）1个，B类教学团队1个。学院长期聘任外教承担专业课教学任务，并聘任40多名企事业单位高级管理人员担任硕士研究生校外指导老师，还聘有10多名知名学者、企业家担任客座教授。

Through the continuing quality improvement for the teachers by various means, the School has now owned a group of highly professional faculties with rich teaching experience and international vision. Currently, it has a teaching staff of 59 including 56 full time teachers,28 associate professors and 12 professors .And the teachers with doctor degrees have reached 43 percent. Among them, two have won the title of outstanding teachers in Guangdong Province, 2 provincial level candidates and 10 university level candidates for the Thousand, Hundred and Ten Project .Due to the great importance attached to its construction of educational team, the titles of Famous Teacher and Best Young Teacher are conferred upon one teacher and 3 young teachers in the School by GDUFS respectively. The school presently boasts one Class-A education team (All English teaching)and one Class-B education team at the university level. It has employed the foreign teachers to teach the professional courses on a long term basis. Besides, over 40 senior executives in enterprises or institutions are appointed as the tutors of post-graduates outside the campus and more than 10 renowned scholars and entrepreneurs as guest professors.

教学科研

近五年，学院教师主持包括国家社会科学基金、国家自然科学基金、教育部人文社科基金、广东省哲学社会科学基金、广东省自然科学基金项目在内的国家级、省部级项目56项，科研总经费超过1200万元；获得包括广东省哲学社会科学优秀成果奖论文类一等奖在内的政府科研奖励3项；在《China Economic Reviews》、《Emerging Market Finance and Trade》、《经济研究》、《管理世界》、《会计研究》、《世界经济》、《财经研究》、《财贸经济》等国际和国内核心期刊发表论文150多篇。

学院教师近五年获得广东省专业综合教改项目2项、广东省省级优秀教学成果奖2项、广东省级教学改革项目11项，公开出版教材专著近30部，发表教研论文62篇。课程建设不断进步，拥有《会计电算化》、《税法》、《国际会计》、《财务管理》、《CPA会计》等多门校级精品课程，其中《会计电算化》、《税法》课程成为省级精品资源共享课建设课程。

学院高度重视科研服务社会能力的提升，先后获得服务政府、企事业单位的社会横向项目30多项，经费共计377.78万元，其中开办的安永华明会计师事务所新员工会计培训班已经成为校企合作的知名培训项目。

Academic Research

In recent years, the school faculty have conducted 56 state or provincial programs including the National Social Science Fund, National Natural Science Fund, the Humanities and Social Science of the Ministry of Education ,the provincial Philosophy and Social Science Fund and the provincial Natural Science Fund, accumulating the general research cost over 12 million yuan. They had been awarded 3 government research rewards including the first prize thesis as the excellent achievements of the Philosophy and Social Science in Guangdong province and issued over 150 papers in the domestic and foreign authoritative and core journals such as China Economic Reviews, Emerging Market Finance and Trade, Economic Research, Management World, Accounting Research, World Economy, Financial Research ,Finance and Trade Economics .

During the last 5 years, the faculty have obtained two provincial comprehensive education reform programs, two provincial excellent teaching achievement award and 11 provincial education reform programs. Nearly 30 textbooks were published and over 62 papers were issued. With the constant progress of courses construction, the

School has owned many excellent courses at university level such as Computerized Accounting,

International Accounting, Financial Management and CPA Accounting, among which Computerized and Taxation had became the provincial excellent resource-sharing course.

Due to the great stress on its competence improvement in serving society through scientific research, the School had acquired over 30 social horizontal programs with a total amount of 3.7778million yuan funds for the service of government as well as the enterprises and institutions, among which the accounting training course for the new employees set up by Ernst&Young has become a famous training program in the cooperation between the school and enterprises.

国际合作

学院办学国际化、师资国际化、学生国际化特色日益凸显。

学院开设了财务管理专业全英班，与英国会计师特许公会合作开办了ACCA国际会计创新班。会计和审计专业获得澳洲会计师公会的课程项目认证，获得8门基础课程的考试豁免。

学院和澳大利亚昆士兰大学、昆士兰科技大学，英国莱斯特大学、考文垂大学，美国南卡罗来纳州立大学上州分校等多所大学开展“2+2”、“3+1”双学位培养项目，学生毕业时能同时获得广外及国外大学的毕业证书；与美国加州大学河滨分校开办“3+2”联合硕士项目，学生毕业时能同时获得广外学士学位证书和美国加州大学河滨分校的硕士学位证书。同时，以学院为主体建成的CMA培训基地成为美国管理会计师公会在华南地区的唯一考点。

优秀学生通过单向交流、交换生项目、短期游学项目，可以前往美国哥伦比亚大学、加州大学伯克利分校、美国南卡罗来纳州立大学上州分校、英国爱丁堡垄比亚大学等海外高校学习。

目前，学院具有国际教育背景的教师比例超过30%，每年出国学习的学生人数不断增加，多名留学生在学院就读。

International Cooperation

The distinctiveness of the internationalized education, teaching staff and students of the school has become increasingly prominent. The School has opened the pure English-teaching class for Financial Management major and the International Accounting Innovation class through the cooperation with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants(ACCA). Its accounting and Auditing majors has received the course accreditation from the Australian Association of Certified Accountants, therefore 8 fundamental courses could be exempted from test.

The School has launched 2 dual degree programs called 2+2 and 3+1 through cooperation with the Queensland university and Queensland technology university in Australia, the university of Leicester and Coventry University in Britain as well as the South Carolina university, Upstate, in USA, the students can obtain the diplomas from both GDUFS and foreign universities after their graduation. Under a joint post-graduate 3+2 cultivation program with the University of California, Riverside, the students could get the bachelor degree from GDFUS and master degree from the University of California, Riverside. Meanwhile, the CMA training base with the then School of Finance as the main body has become the only test center in South China for the U.S. Association of Management Accountants .

The prominent students could study abroad in the Columbia University, University of California, Berkeley, University of South Carolina, Upstate and University of Napier in Edinburgh through one-way communication, students exchange program and short-term oversea study.

At present, the teachers with the international education background in our school have exceeded 30%.A growing number of students choose to study abroad each year while many foreign students would come to the School for education.

学生活动

学院注重调动学生参与科学研究的主动性和积极性，激发学生学术兴趣。学院精心组织的“财经讲坛”系列讲座已经成为学院的一个学术品牌活动。学院每年都举办“财经学术节”、“英语口语技能”和“英语戏剧”大赛，兼顾学业活动的学术性、实践性、趣味性，同时突出对学生创新精神和实践能力的培养，受到广大师生的高度好评和欢迎。

学院深入指导学生开展创业训练、实践调研和学术研究。获得省级大学生创新创业训练项目24项，研究生校级科研创新团队9个，研究生2篇论文获得广东省优秀硕士论文。

学生每年参加广东省大学生创业计划竞赛，多次获得金奖和银奖；ACCA国际会计创新班学生于2013年首次参加“ACCA就业力大比拼”比赛，获得全国总冠军；审计专业学生获得“第12届挑战杯全国大学生课外学术科技作品竞赛”广东省铜奖；税收专业学生于2013年闯入“德勤税务精英挑战赛”全国决赛。

会计学院学子还积极关注民生，热心服务社会，参加“三下乡”社会服务，到社区进行义修、义教，担任亚运会、亚残运会、深圳大运会等大型赛事志愿者等，都获得了社会各界好评。

Students activities

The School actively motivates the initiative and enthusiasm of the students in participation of the scientific research thus arousing their interests in academics. The series of lectures of the Finance Forum organized by our School have become an academic brand activity of the School of Finance. The annual contests of Financial Academic Festival, Oral English Skills and English Drama have been thought highly of by the teachers and students and popular with them, because they are not only academic, practical and interesting but also emphasize the training of the innovation and practical skills of the students.

The School intensively guides the students in their start-ups trainings, practical researches and academic studies. Now it has obtained 24 provincial college students training programs in innovation and start-ups，9 creative research teams at university level had been set up by the post-graduates and 2 post-graduate theses had been accredited as the provincial excellent master theses.

Our students has won a couple of golden and silver prizes in the competition of start-up plan by college and university students of the Guangdong Province each year. The students from the ACCA international accounting class won the national champion in their first participation of the ACCA Job Hunting Competition in 2013.The students from Auditing class won the provincial bronze prize in the competition of the 12th Challenge Cup National College Students Ex-curricular academic science and technology works. And the students from Taxation major had entered into the national final contest of the Deloitte Tax Championship in 2013.

The students of the School of Finance also show great concern to the livelihood of the people and keenly serve the society by serving the countryside in Three Domain: science, culture and sanitation, providing free service of repairing and teaching in community and working as volunteers in the big sport events such as Asian Games, Asian Games for the disabled and Shenzhen Universiade . Their activities have won the good praises from all walks of life.

实习就业

学院不断创新和深化实践教学，促进和提升学生的创新创业能力与就业竞争力。学院和安永华明会计师事务所、普华永道会计师事务所、立信会计师事务所、香港珠江船务发展有限公司、金蝶国际软件有限公司等知名企业合作共建校外教学实习基地，其中安永华明会计师事务所广州分所合作共建的实习基地于2013年被评为校级优秀实习基地、广东省大学生校外实践基地。

学院深化“专业+外语”的人才培养模式，培养的学生具有扎实的财会知识基础，具有娴熟的外语综合技能，广受社会各界欢迎。历届硕士研究生就业率达到100%，本科毕业生就业率达到99%以上。每年在“四大”国际会计师事务所、国内外知名银行、证券公司、涉外大型企业就业的毕业生比例超过80%，学生就业率高、就业层次高、就业满意度高。

Internship and Employment

The School keeps innovating and deepens the practical education in order to improve the students " abilities of innovation & starting business and their competitiveness in job hunting. The School has built many teaching and internship bases outside the campus through cooperation with some famous enterprises such as the Ernst &Young ,Price Waterhouse Coopers, PWC, Lixin Accounting firm, Pearl River Shipping company(HK), Kingdee International Software Co. ,Ltd, among which the internship base jointly built with the Guangzhou branch of Ernst &Young was accredited as the excellent internship base by GDUFS and the college student practice base by the educational department of Guangdong Provincial Government in 2013.

Under the talent training mode of “major plus foreign language”, the students of our school not only have solid accounting knowledge but also good foreign language skills, thus enjoying wide popularity among the employers. The major plus foreign language employment rate of our post-graduates and undergraduates in the past years has remained at 100% and 99% respectively. Each year, over 80 percent of the graduates could find jobs in the Big Four International Accounting firms, renowned banks at home and abroad, Securities corporations and large-scale foreign enterprises .The graduates enjoy a high rate of employment ,a high level job and high degree of employment satisfaction.
